Our Story
Our journey to becoming lovebirds was unconventional but beautiful. I first met Judith (Ella’s sister) when I joined the University of Benin. She was very close friends with my sister, Stella. Later, in my fourth year, Ella gained admission. I still remember the first day I saw her: a slim, tall, beautiful damsel with unmatched positive energy.
Since Judith was family to us, Ella was supposed to automatically become family too, but that didn’t happen. I tried being friends with her, but the feeling wasn’t mutual. She barely ever reached out or responded to my messages. At some point, I got really confused about why someone who was supposed to be like my sister was acting that way. I guess she wasn’t interested in having an older brother at the time.
Fast forward to 2022, when I started my spiritual journey. I had just ended my four-year relationship in the spring of 2022, giving me time to focus on my spiritual growth. I had a burning desire to understand the Holy Spirit in a way few believers do. One evening, while logging into Instagram as I usually do every once in a while, I saw Ella’s post of Pastor Kingsley Okonkwo saying that you have to be guided by the Spirit to find the right life partner.
After watching the post, I texted Ella, joking that it seemed like I would turn 40 before the Holy Spirit would reveal mine to me, since I had just started getting to know Him better. I mean…. “you go first know the Spirit first before Him go fit show you anything na, abi?” For some reason, she found that very funny despite my seriousness and she told me it doesn’t work that way. That was how we started talking about walking with the Spirit and eventually found ourselves in a Spirit-filled relationship.
